It is a shame that so-called "answers" to inquiries are put in language that presupposes certain understandings of the device a person now owns but cannot get to perform. I do not believe that it is impossible for someone to give a clear, step-by-step formula to resolve a problem. I recently received a Samsung R455c for which I am unable to obtain a phone number. This should not be such an arcane science that only "initiates" can fathom. A plain-English explanation would be appreciated. Does Tracfone enjoy having so many units returned? I wish I would have checked out the forums before ordering this phone directly from Tracfone. I had a simple Tracfone before but was late in renewing airtime and it is inactivated. I thought I would move up to a nicer phone, with the triple minutes for life, etc., but am only met with frustration. Where is someone with a clear explanation as to how to resolve customer problems. Outsourcing help to people who have to check a manual for an answer, causing delays that put off customers would seem conter-productive. Well, I have had my say. It doesn't help my individual problem, but is there anyone who does not understand what I have written? Please take time to proofread what you enter on a forum so others have some chance of understanding what you are trying to convey! Don't assume others know technical features of a new device for which they received inadequate instructions. They only are good teachers who can assume ignorance on the part of their pupil(s) and calmly work to create understanding.

How To Fix It

You have to call the Representatives at 1-877-836-2368 during work hours (8 am - 10 pm, time is different on te weekends). Tell them you were messing with the code entry mode and they'll reactivate it for you. Don't mess with the code entry mode. I wish they would have put that somewhere -_____________________-

how do i know what my code entry mode number is??? please help me all my fone says is prepaid service disabled and it doesnt let me open any messages send any messages or make or recieve any calls ugh i think im just going to go to the store manager and ask how to fix it or please give me one of the numbers that you gave the other person!!

Try reactivating

Di you can try reactivating by going to:

https://www.tracfone.com/direct/init_activation.jsp

and choosing the first option to activate Tracfone with a new number.

You will also need to purchase an airtime card or PIN as you don't get any free minutes for reactivating your phone.

Reactivate Your Cell

If for whatever reason your cell fails to make contact with the tower, try entering the following code: *22800 You'll hear a prompt with several options. Press the number for activate and wait. You'll receive a Thank You and then, your cell will reboot itself. Once its rebooted, you note you'll be in contact with the tower again. Hope this helps!!

Oops, I should have said that Code Entry Mode is a state on the phone where you can make your phone ready for activation and also program the number of minutes you have and the expiration date of those minutes.

You do this by entering a series of numerical codes while in Code Entry Mode. Of course, only Tracfone and their support representatives have access to the particular codes for your phone.

Code entry mode in "Prepaid" menu

Hi,

To find the Tracfone "Code Entry Mode" menu, you just go to the "Prepaid Menu" and scroll down to the bottom. It's usually right after the "Serial Number" option.

Once you're there, you have to follow the instructions to type in various number to complete your transfer.
