Very happy with my 11 year olds Kajeet phone

We recently moved, so I let my 11 year old son get the Kajeet phone. It is a great phone. If you set up auto payments, the daily fee comes out to 5.25 a month, 4.99 if you do it yourself, but miss a day, and you get the 35 cent charge per day.

The pre pay includes 10 talk minutes, it is 10 cents per minute over that; my son earns money, and for $5 a month he gets 250 text, so that is 120 minutes and up to 3,000 texts a year for $125.

The best feature is the parental controls. I can lock out someone who texts too much to my son. I set up times where no texts go in or out (and no charges), and set up one number (me) that he can call at ANYTIME if he is at a sleep over.

It is perfect because pay phones are getting harder to find. Plus, he is learning to manage his money. If the theme was not so cutsie- I'd get one for my older son too. There are better value text plans available for heavier texters.
