How are you supposed to load music from your PC to the Phone? I read on another review site prior to buying that some cord was needed. Is this true and if so where do you get it?

--------------
Hi Nancy,

There are a couple of ways to load music onto the LG 500g. First, the music has to be on the microsd memory card so you need to get that unless it's included. A 2GB or even 4GB is pretty cheap these days. After you insert the card, the phone will format it and create a My Music folder.

Here are three ways of transferring music onto the card (so you can listen on your phone):

1. Put the microsd card in an SD card adapter and stick it directly into the SD card slot on your PC (if it has one). Then just transfer the songs you want into the music folder. Then, after you stick the card back into the phone, you should be able to play the songs. This is what I usually do on my LG 900g. Thisis the fastest method if you're transferring a lot of songs. I don't recommend this method all the time on the LG 500g because you have to remove the back of the phone to remove the microsd card. It's quite difficult to remove the back of the phone.

2. Another thing you can do is transfer the songs from your PC via bluetooth. For that you need a Bluetooth-equipped PC or get a cheap Bluetooth (costs less than a data cable and has other uses) adapter from Amazon, Walmart etc. I've tried this way and it works great.

3. Lastly, you could use a separate data cable. I personally haven't used this method so while it should work, I can't vouch for it.

My recommendation for this phone is to transfer a files via Bluetooth if you're doing just a song or two. If you're transferring your whole library, then putting it directly on the memory card is faster.

Playlist and Music

I want to be able to play mp3s one right after the other. Is this possible on this?

-------------
Hi Eddy, It sure is. You just have to make sure you're playing them via the music player and not first going to the folder that holds your music. To get to your music player, you can either select the right nav key or go to Menu > My Folder > Music (you have to scroll all the way down).

What you don't want to do is go to your Sounds folder where you can find all your tracks but where you can only play them one at a time.

LG 500g Music Player Options

Once you get to the Music, you have the option to play: All Tracks, Playlists, Artists, Albums, and Genres. If you select All Tracks, the LG 500g music player will play all your tracks (in a seemingly random order). If you select Artists and select an Artist, you can play all tracks by that artist or select a particular album to play. (Note, for the music player to find all this info by title, the MP3 or WMA music files need to contain this info.)

Creating Playlists

You can create a playlist by going to Playlists and selecting Options > Add New Playlist. At this point you are taken to All Tracks where you can choose songs to add to your playlist. You have to mark at least one track before you can select Done which saves the playlist.

Once your playlist is saved, you can go back to the Music menu and browse through the Artists or Albums, find additional tracks you want to add, and select Options > Add to Playlist and then select the playlist you want to add it to.

Ordering Playlists

To re-order songs in a playlist, you can go the list, select a track and then select Options > Move Up or Move Down. After you're done, when you exit, you'll be asked if you want to save your changes.

adding contact info
by: sb (admin)

May,

I added a separate page about adding contacts. You can find a link to it on the main LG 500g review page.

I'm adding it here as well, but you have to manually copy and paste it as it's not clickable:

In the Dark

How are you supposed to know how to use the LG500g? I have no idea how to do anything. Don't even know how to enter names and numbers in an address book. I miss my simple, uncomplicated little Motorola W376g. The services guide that came with the LG tells you nothing about how to use it. Any help would be greatly appreciated or else it's going back and I'm returning to my Motorola.

Hi May,

Glad you got the back back on. I may have deleted your followup by mistake thinking it was a duplicate post.

Looking forward to seeing YOUR own guest review about this phone :)

Regards.

Editing your music
by: Luv my LG500G

By using the USB/micro USB cable option you can open up a window om your computer and see the contents of the MicroSD card you have installed on your phone. Create the folders and sub folders you need, then drop them into the MicroSD card on your phone. Then drop the songs you'd like to add directly to the sub folder.

I haven't tried using the Windows Media Player yet to load music but I bet that could work as well.

Kindle cord is cheap

You can use the standard USB to micro USB cord, same as for the Kindle. The cord cost less than the shipping charge on Amazon.

1 more question about transferring Music
by: Cherri

I did exactly what you said in number 1 to Nancy to transfer the music to the SD micro. When I put it into the phone, the music is there, but arranged oddly. I transferred 10 CD's successfully. But, the phone doesn't show them listed by album, it shows all 76 songs in a row ... 10 Track 1 songs, then all 10 Track 2 songs, then all 10 Track 3, etc. It does not show the name of the album. How do I create albums or play lists on the phone?
