Tracfone's SVC with the $10 monthly plan is a winner.

I stumbled upon the SVC (Senior Value Cellphone) while looking for a phone for my son. As it turned out, I'd been thinking it was about time I get my dad connected, so this was the perfect opportunity. It's advertised as being something you can do for $7 / month, but I decided it would be far simpler to go with a monthly plan as he wouldn't have to remember to top up in time, and the rate/minute is slightly better. The 50 minutes a month are more than enough for him to get by on as he doesn't use his phone very frequently.

It is such a relief to have him on such a reliable network, as I know he can reach me whenever he needs to. He also doesn't have the worry of unexpected amounts on a bill...in fact he doesn't even have to worry about a bill.

The phone is the Samsung T155. It's a nifty little flip phone, and the biggest advantage, in my opinion, is the easy navigation of the menu. He was initially very skeptical about using it, but with the simple yes/no answers needed, he has adapted easily. It also displays large text on a bright screen, has a long battery life and has 911 location assist.

All round, a product that is well suited to the techno-challenged senior citizen. Both in savings as well as ease of use.

My granny is a true winner. She won a Tracfone SVC with a $20 card at one of her luncheons. Eventhough whe does have another phone, she has decided to switch to the Tracfone SVC as she says it is a much easier phone to operate and $20 for three months is a bargain

Its not only the fact that the SVC is super cheap. It has great big keys that are easy to press, it's just really designed well for senior usage. That's why I got it for both of my parents.

SVC has giving my parents a relief and peace each month. They are both retired and didn't know if they could pay a contract cellphone company. I told them that Kmart offer this SVC phone and to my surprise they stop by today and showed me they both bought one. They @ Kmart explained almost everything and now am in the process of calling customer service and connecting both SVC's. I will let you know how it went for them.

Actually, this phone is also available as a double minutes phone direct from Tracfone.

Initially when I started looking into the SVC plan I was confused. Firstly I couldn't find the so-called $7 plan per month. It turns out that the plan in question is the ordinary $20 plan devided by the 3 service months. Secondly; I couldn't understand why tracfone would only push a GSM phone, when they have access to the CDMA network also. It turns out that the one SVC phone, which is GSM based, is no different than the one being sold normally at walmart. ie all the other phones available for tracfone, are just as good an option for seniors, granted that they come with DMFL.

Thanks to Tracfone and the Samsung 155 I now have my dad connected. Before he wouldn't hear of getting connected as he had before and he found it all just too complicated for himself. With the Tracfone he is confident and finds the handset easy to use. It is important that the elderly don't feel alienated by todya's technology. Anyhow now he is connected and I can speak to him whenever I want to

I bought this phone for my mom. What a re-assurance it has been not only for her but for me as well. She lives on her own as I was always worried that she might fall etc. Now she carries this phone on her at all times and knows that I am just a call away. Something that has been really considrate of Tracfone is that this phone has a large screen with easy to see letters and the keypad is uncomplicated. I am so pleased that the older generation have been considered in today's high powered technology
