Total Call Mobile Overview
Search This Site:
Simply put, you should pick Total Call Mobile if you want a 10 cents a minutes prepaid cell phone provider that offers customer service in Spanish, Vietnamese, Korean and Tagalog. Yes, you read that right, and, since you're reading this in English, you presumably don't need it yourself, but maybe someone you know does.
Coverage
This company is another mobile virtual network provider that relies on the Sprint PCS network. So coverage will be along those lines. Their website only has a rough map of the coverage, but they provide an 800 number you can call to check if they offer coverage in your area.
Rates
Total Call Mobile
actually has both a prepaid plan as well as a plethora of monthly plans including one that offers the standard "unlimited nights and weekends" feature.
Prepaid
All call will cost you 10 cents minute. Text messages run 5 cents each. You have the add a minimum of $10 of airtime every 90 days to keep your service active. Thus, you have to add a little over $40 per year to keep. It's a refreshingly simple plan.
Monthly plans
You have a whole slew of monthly plans to choose from. Very similar to those of the primary (non-virtual) carriers. There are a couple of plans with “unlimited nights and weekends”. There is no contract, and they they don’t seem to offer rebates on their phones. Normally, at this point I say that it’s easier to get a standard cell phone contract, because the rebates then apply. You should consider Total Call Mobile if you want a monthly plan and if you desire customer service in one of the languages they offer.
Internation Call Rates
The rates for the international calls themselves are similar to Tracfone and STiMobile. Basically, for countries that don't charge the telephone co's., the call doesn't cost anything extra. For the countries that do add a tax. So the rates for the international calls are not unique, what's unique is the customer service.
Phones
In keeping with the international flavor, most of their phones have multilingual menus. They offer two camera phones, the LG225 and the higher-end Sanyo Katana. You have to call them for pricing.
Activation
You have to call their 800 number on a separate line. Have your Total Call Mobile phone’s ESN number handy and follow the instructions.
