Hi Jeff,
Thanks for the heads up. After a little research, I discovered that this $3 charge is only if you top up your phone at dealers. However, as long as you buy and activate your airtime cards online or sign up for auto-refill, there is no additional fee.
This fee for dealer top-ups has apparently been imposed by Sprint, the parent company.
SoBoost Mobil is still a good option as long as the coverage and the plans are okay for you.
