Puk codes do in this Net 10 Fan

by Houston Thomas
(Oklahoma City)

Strong advocate of Net 10 wireless prepaid ..." No contracts no Evil." Began with the Motorola C-155. Worked well, tried several other handsets with success, and now use the LG-300.

Everything fine until began studying the security features, without the benefit of the instruction manual. Am now locked out of my own phone. Didn't know what a 'puk' code was . . but I do now.

Am presently engaged in an excercise in futility trying to locate a 'puk' code to regain access to my own phone. To the uninitiated : BEWARE ! Learn about the 'puk' before it's too late. To those of us who were caught unaware ~ the only rational explanation is that we did something in a prior lifetime to deserve such a fate.

To those of you who are exceptionally determined and are committed to a carrier who charge up to $25.00 for a sim card that you inadvertantly de-activiated because you didn't quit trying different PUK codes after ten tries . . my sincere condolences. H.T.

This is why you need to know!!!!!!
by: Anonymous

Its because of the fact that if you don't know about it like i didnt and you type in 10 wrong puk numbers then your phone locks you out and guess what?! You have to wait 3 to 7 business days before you get another sims card then you have to reactivate it and you dnt evn no if your numbers will still b on your phone so you need to know about it before you become an idiot and do what i did.

No secret, and not just with Net10
by: jimates

Here is the info from the At&t page.

For Net10 & Tracfone (as with At&t) you can fix it from the tech support page on their site. Or by calling customer service.

Don't worry about it
by: sb (admin)

Jennifer,

Don't worry, you don't need to know anything about Puk codes. I don't really know either.

I think it matters if you're trying to unlock your Net10 phone so you can use it with another phone company. From what I know, you don't really do that with a Net10 or Tracfone handset anyway as their airtime counter would still remain.

As I understand it, even if you managed to unlock your phone to the point that you could use it with another carrier you'd still be limited by the amount of Net10 or Tracfone airtime you had left.

I left the original comment up in case someone wanted to provide a solution.

As long as you're just using your Net10 phone as intended, you shouldn't have to worry about any of this.

Puk code?
by: Jennifer

I'm also a big fan of Net10 but what the heck a Puk code and why should I know about it before it's too late? This is the first time I've heard of such a thing!
