The Nokia 2680 GoPhone shown here is a basic slider phone with VGA camera, Bluetooth, and Web capabilities. This Gophone is no longer offered. Though it is still featured on their ads like the one you see on the right, clicking on it will take to their current phones.
Camera
The Nokia has a VGA resolution camera with a 4x digital zoom. This is just about enough for a few quick snaps when you don’t have your regular camera around. You can transfer these photos via USB cable or via Bluetooth. The internal memory is only 4 MB, but you can store quite a few VGA-resolution photos in that amount of space.
Bluetooth
You can pair the Nokia 2680 GoPhone with a Bluetooth headset. The phone does stereo, but it’s not clear why, since it doesn’t have a music player. I guess it’s for listening to your ringtones.
You can also transfer your photos to a computer with a Bluetooth connection. You could also just choose to send the photos in messages.
Messages
The 2680 GoPhone does both text and instant messaging. You need to subscribe to their Media Net package for the instant messaging as well as other data services like email and web.
Email
You have access to mobile email via your phone. These will be limited to a few sites like Yahoo, Gmail, and Hotmail, but you can set these sites up to access your other email.
Web
You can access the Web through AT&T’s Edge network which should be fast enough for what you can do with this phone.
Basic Features
Battery Life
Talk time is an adequate 3 hours, while the standby time is an above average 17 days.
Size and Weight
The phone weighs 3.3 ounces, pretty good for a slider style phone. Its dimensions are average at 3.9 x 1.9 x 0.6 inches.
Screen Size
The screen size is 128 x 160, another reason why you’ll mainly be using this phone for calling and sending short text messages. Still, if that’s what you want to do, there’s no point in getting an energy wasting large-screen smart phone with a battery you have to keep recharging.
Manual
You can learn more by reading the Nokia 2680 GoPhone Manual (pdf), but it's really a pretty basic and reliable phone and you should have few problems using it.
