No International Texts on new Tracfone

For several years now I have been able to both receive and send text messages (using Tracfone) to a friend in Sweden who has a wireless phone. I was using the Motorola W370. The battery died recently and I switched to an LG420G.

The new phone does not allow me to send international texts, but it does receive them from my friend in Sweden. Tracfone customer service has said they cannot comment on the issue because Tracfone does not support international texting, only calling.

I may get a new battery for the old W370 and see what happens if I reactivate it.
