Net10 Unlimited Review
$50 a Month for Unlimited Calls, Texts, Web and Email
Search This Site:
Net10 Unlimited was reintroduced a few months ago at $50 a month for unlimited calls, unlimited text messages and unlimited web and email. This was exciting because it had previously cost $80 a month. Update: Try Straight Talk InsteadUnfortunately, I have to report that many people have written to say that they cannot find the unlimited phones at retail stores and Net10 does not sell them online. Also, you apparently cannot convert regular Net10 phones them to unlimited phones (though at one point customer support had claimed that you could). So my recommendation for now is to use Straight Talk to get unlimited Talk and Text Nationwide for only $45 a month (though the phones are slightly more expensive). You can read about the Straight Talk Unlimited plan here. Here's the Net10 plan description:
The Plan
The unlimited plan used to cost $80, which was okay when it was first introduced. In 2009, however, many companies brought out much cheaper unlimited plans.Net10 Coverage is great, plus their plans always keep things simple, so it’s exciting that they’ve re-introduced their plan at the lower price point. Unlimited CallsYou can talk as much as you want at any time of the day or night.Unlimited TextsYou can send and receive all the text messages you want. Unlimited Web and EmailYou have unlimited access to Net10’s mobile web offerings. This means you can go to a select few web sites such as Google, Yahoo, and MSN. Luckily, this means you can check your Gmail, Yahoo and Hotmail accounts. You can check your other email accounts through these three accounts if you have POP access to your email. Whew!
The Phones
Currently there are three Net10 Unlimited phones available, the LG 600g, the Samsung R401g and the Motorola EM326g.LG 600g
This model offers Bluetooth, a VGA camera and a voice recorder. The phone has been popular and is in and out of stock. You can read the Net10 LG 600g review here. Samsung R401g
The Samsung R401g has a Qwerty keyboard, MP3 player and 1.3 megapixel camera. The only difference compared to the T401g, appears to be that you can get the "R" it with the unlimited plan. (And apparently can't convert the T401g to an unlimited phone.) Motorola EM326g
The Motorola EM326g also has a 1.3 megapixel camera and an MP3 player. This phone comes with a regular 3.5mm headphone jack so you can plug in your regular stereo earphones rather than getting a special set. You can read a review here.
Miscellaneous
International CallsThe old Net10 Unlimited plan was incompatible with international calling as there was no way to charge separately for them. Now you can purchase additional bundles that should allow to make international calls. With these additional bundles, you can also . . .Download Ringtone and GraphicsYou can use these additional minute bundles to download ringtones and graphics from Net10. Presumably, they have to charge separately because Net10 would have to pay royalties to the artists for the downloads.
Should you Get It?
Sure, if you can find one. Net10 came out on top in 2009 in the J.D. Power prepaid survey, so you have a good chance of being pleased with their service. Straight Talk and Tracfone are offer by the same company, so service should be comparable.
