Is the EX124g an "android" phone or just a look-alike?

I've been on Tracfone for about 3 years & am pleased with coverage. Will the EX124g download the apps my wife has on her HTC Mirage? I would like some of the features but prefer the pay-as-you-go method because I don't use it enough to justify the monthly fee.
-------------- Hi Joe,
Unlike the Mirage, the EX124g is NOT an Android phone. It can, however, download Java apps from various places on the web. There isn't an official directory like the iTunes store for the iPhone or the Android Marketplace.
The EX124g does have an email client and pretty good web access including access to Facebook (though there's no GPS, so you can't "Check in" to places on Facebook (unless you check in via FourSquare). These actions do use up airtime if you checking them every day or several times a day.
Net10 and Straight Talk have introduced Android phones, however, they require the $50 per month and $45 per month unlimited plans respectively - something you said you weren't really interested in. I am currently testing the Samsung Galaxy Precedent. I admit I do really like being able to do all the stuff that these phones can do.
I wish they had made the phones available under the $25 or $30 plans because these phones have WiFi so you can connect over that when you're in coffee shops and at work or home if you have WiFi installed there.
The advantage of the EX124g is that you can use it on Tracfone's economical plan. Or if you get the NET10 version , you can use it either on their pay as you go plan or on their monthly plans.
