International SMS intentionally difficult on Tracfone

I recently upgraded from a Tracfone Motorola C139 to a Tracfone LG800. My old Tracfone had international SMS capability -- something that I disturbingly lost when I transferred to the LG800.
Tracfone technical support was clueless at best when I called to request the option be restored (or my old phone reactivated). I spoke to three different people and received 3 different answers. Answer 1) International SMS not available on this device. Answer 2) Internatonal SMS not available on Tracfone and Answer 3) International SMS might be available, but you must wait 48 hours after activating the phone to see if it is possible.
53 hours and counting and no SMS. Frustrated with Tracfone's inability to give me an answer or explain why a rather antiquated model can send and receive SMS internationally, but their newest model can't.
IF INTERNATIONAL SMS IS IMPORTANT--THEN AVOID TRACFONE.
