Hi William,

You may want to check whether they've been downloaded as mp3 files? I use Windows Media Player to rip my CD's and I had originally left it at its default to rip them as .wma (Windows Media Audio?) files. Once I changed the settings to rip music to MP3 files (with quality set to 256 kbps) I had no problem getting my phones to recognize the song files.

Setting Up Windows Media Player

To change the settings in Windows Media Player, click on Organize -> Options and click on the "Rip Music" tab and select MP3 as the format under Rip Settings.

Setting Up iTunes

If you use iTunes instead and have your songs as .aac files you'll have a similar problem and will have to set it up to rip to MP3 there as well.

In iTunes you click on Edit -> Preferences. Then in the General section, click on "Import Settings" and choose Import Using "MP3 Encoder" from the drop-down list.

If you've already downloaded a ton of music and don't want to do it all over again, you may want to use a file converter to them from either wma or aac format to mp3 format.

Hopefully this fixes your problem. If not, if you can provide a few details, perhaps we can help you out.

BTW, we were just in Chambersburg a few weeks ago visiting friends. Went to the lake in Cowan's Gap Park and had a nice time.

That solved the problem
by: William

Thanks for the help. That was the problem. Downloaded a converter program, ran it and now all is good. Its a shame the instructions that came with the phone didn't point that out or if it did I certainly missed seeing it. Sure hope this helps other folks experiencing the problem.
