There are a couple of other options for seniors or anyone who wants an easy to use phone.

Prepaid Option

Alcatel A382 phone has large button phone with flashlight and radio. It is offered Tracfone on their prepaid plans which have a lower cost but normally require airtime cards. However, they have introduced monthly value plans so you get automatic refills.

No-Contract Option

Consumer Cellular offers the Doro phone on their no-contract plans which start as low as $10. They offer traditional billing or invoicing just like GreatCall, but you can pay your bill online. This handset includes large buttons, an emergency button and an FM radio.

Another option is the Just5 phone which is available as an unlocked GSM phone that you can use with the appropriate provider. One such partner is Red Pocket which offers unlimited monthly plans starting at about $40.
