FM radio reception

To get good reception on the FM radio on this phone you will need an earphone that has a microphone. The plug for the earphone should have 4 sections, most stereo earphones have 3 sections.

Hi Andrew,

Thanks. That sounds like a great tip. Do you know why that is, or a link where that is explained? I know that I get good (but not great) reception on the LG 900g with plain old stereo earphones, but not so much with the ex124g.

Regards,

You need the earphones

You do need the earphones because the wires act as the antenna. When you try to play the radio, it checks to see if the earphones are plugged in.

Can you listen to the FM radio without using headphones? Can you just listen through an external speaker?

EX124g FM radio reception
by: Andrew

Sorry I don't know why regular stereo earphones don't work. I can't find anything on the internet that explains why earphones with a mic is needed to get good FM reception on some cell phones. If you look into the cell phone earphone socket you will see there are four contacts. My best guest is the shorting of two of the contacts can degrade FM reception.
