Disappointed with the LG600 call ringer

When the incoming call rings, the sound goes from + to +++++. There is no way to deactivate this feature and have the phone ring at the maximum volume from the beginning of the call. The manual says you can deactivate this feature in "tools" 9.1.5 but the phone shows "Service alert" on the 9.1.5 display screen...
