Change numbers from Alltel to Virgin Mobile

I just got my virgin mobile phone today, and I would like to know how to make my pre-paid alltel number go to the virgin mobile phone.

Thanks for the quesion. This is the best I can do:

Make sure you don't cancel your Alltel phone until you've activated your Virgin phone. Initially it looks like you can do it right from their web site:

Activate Virgin Mobile phone

But once you choose the option "I want to switch my number from another company," you get taken to a screen that says,

"Sorry. To switch your number from another company, please call Virgin Mobile At Your Service at 1-888-322-1122 and say 'Start up service.' "

I've never gone through the process of porting from Alltel prepaid to VM, so I'd love to hear back from you on how it went.
