Q: Can the Nokia 1661 have display in list style vs. only displaying icons?

A: Yes it certainly can!

When you're in icon mode, you go to Menu -> Tools -> Display Settings -> Menu View. Select "List" instead of Grid.

Now you'll see that the main menu is in list mode. The area taken up by an individual menu item is very large however, and only a few menu options fit on the screen at one time. Still, you do get the advantage of the "List setting which is that you only have to go down (or up) to get to everything.
